Solace is a group created to support and empower women and their children, who are living with and fleeing from domestic violence and abuse. Staffed by volunteers and trained community workers, Solace offers a safe secure environment in which families can support each other and look at safe ways to move forward. We work closely in partnership with Refuge and IDAS.
The children we support are often disadvantaged compared to others because of low family income and little or no family support. Living in a hostile environment is proven to have a negative impact on progress and attainment. We have created a space that families use as a safe haven which gives the opportunity for them to spend positive family time together. This includes the families having healthy meals together, the children having support with school work and family fun and recreational time.
Outside agencies are able to use this space to meet and support the women in private.
